The Indie Beauty Network, founded by CEO Donna Maria Coles Johnson, is a tremendous resource to indie businesses like Samara Botane. Under the creative professional direction of Donna Maria, IBN has grown to over 600 small business members. We value the fact that through this network, we can afford the same benefits as larger corporations, such as affordable product liability insurance, health insurance for our employees, professional seminars and training to improve our business acumen, and much more. All of which makes us better able to succeed in a world dominated by mega cosmetic companies and big essential oil conglomerates.
Donna Maria is now helping to spearhead an important movement to protect not only indie businesses, but consumers like you who want the right to choose handmade beauty and wellness products instead of mass-produced items that may contain harmful ingredients. The FDA is currently proposing new legislation that would impose undue taxation on small independent handmade products businesses. This will come in the form of prohibitive registration fees, so high that many small indies will simply have to close their doors. Your right to choose will be severely limited if this legislation gets passed.
Please help us stop this oppressive legislation that will do nothing to make cosmetic products safer (as is the stated intention of the bill) and will protect large corporations by limiting the growing competition from small entrepreneurs by unfairly imposing stifling registration fees only affordable by the well-funded.
