1981 Gary moved to Spokane WA. and he and his wife Donna began preparing Donna to deliver their seventh child at home. Gary told his brother-in-law that he watched many calves being born growing up so what was the difference?

As Donna grew near term, Gary began to build a large crude wooden tub lined with black plastic in their house. On a weekend visit his family asked what he was going to do with the large make shift tub. He said that while he was on one of his long hauls to California, he heard that in Russia they were delivering babies under water with great results and he had decided that his baby was going to be born that way so it would have fewer traumas as it entered life.

When Gary said that he would deliver the baby without medical assistance, Donald strongly urged him to re-think this, but Gary would not hear of it!

Baby Rachael was born just as Gary said she would, she was a healthy looking beautiful baby with long hair weighing in at eight pounds, but sadly she died during delivery. Shortly after the death of Rachael, Gary divorced Donna and left the six children in Spokane.
