Herbal Infused Oils (HIO'S) - A New Frontier in Aromatherapy
HIO's tend to be more subtle in their delivery and just as effective especially when working with elderly and children. The HIO's are your everyday fighters that keep the fort from being taken over while the Essential Oils are the Elite Fighters that jump start the situation. Both are desperately needed if we are to win our war against illness and disease. These HIO's are simple but direct in their function. They are easy to make but take time to age. One of their advantages over essential oils is that these HIO's can be used independently of essential oils and for longer periods of time since they are a milder form of aromatherapy without some of the side effects (like burning of the skin, etc.) of the more caustic essential oils and we need this type of availability when working with elderly, children, and long-term situations.
Here is where most people do not wish to work with herbal infused oils unless they can buy them already made because herbal infused oils take time and patience to make. However, the wait is very worthwhile if you wish to expand your healing abilities. You will see a more all-inclusive, broad, and more effective use of your essential oils when combined with herbal infused oils.
Now to ask for your help. Because you will be working in a little researched and new area, I ask you to please, keep records of all that you do when working with herbal infused oils. If herbal infused oils are ever going to be widely accepted within the aromatherapy community then we must do the research, document it, and repeat this research time after time as well as recruit others to work with us and do the same in record keeping.
This method that I am teaching is really not new at all. This is probably how the old timers did things before we had access to essential oils. This method was put to the side because it took time to work with. Now we need to bring it back and restore it to it's place with essential oils and add a new chapter to aromatherapy by working with a new (to us) dimension and
synergistic approach to our healing work.
This will take time and much patience and remember that Patience is the key. I have been working with herbal infused oils for over 17 years and I'm still learning something new each time
I make them. Help us in any way that you can. Keep journals. Grow herbs for you to use or for someone else to use. Make up the herbal infused oils. Let them age. Check them and then put them into use. You can make a difference. Come, join with me and help us to open up a new frontier in aromatherapy. You can do it! All you have to do is to take that first step
and try. This is a part of our future in helping to expand our profession to areas where it has not gone before. Look beyond today and see tomorrow and the possibilities that herbal infused oils can add to your own work.
See you there!
