Flower Essences-Beyond Aromatherapy: The Essence of Pet Health
By Renee Votta
Animals, like children, have the amazing ability to ignore facts.
Its a fact that a scientist wouldnt find anything more than the chemical breakdown of water and the preservative if they investigated a bottle of flower essences.
Some people, upon learning this, will say to themselves "well, this is just water, it wont help me", so of course, the essence doesnt help them.
Animals and children dont make any judgements and can show remarkable health response to flower essences.
Animals instinctively seem to know which plants/herbs can help their health problems. I have seen our dog when suffering from skin problems carefully pick out and eat cleavers from a brush pile of mixed plants. By eating the cleavers she was cleaning out her liver and kidneys, which, besides skin, are two of the other elimination organs of the body. By using flower essences we have the answer to many health problems in our pets without having to have the actual plants close at hand.
Physical problems in pets must be treated by your veterinarian, but any type of health problem can be supported by essences. Even if your vet doesnt know about essences you can add them yourself to your pets wellness program to support your pet both physically and emotionally without any fear of interfering with their medication.
If the pet has undergone surgery, any essence that involves healing, stress relief, trust and acceptance can be used. You can buy pre-made blends, or mix them yourself.
Animals feel emotion, just like people. Stress, fear, love, anger. Essences can help in every instance. Sometimes the problems that our pets have make our life difficult too and being able to help our beloved pets while making our lives easier is an essences specialty!
When cats start urinating outside their litter box due to upset over another cat or pet (or even human baby!) coming into the family, Isopogen, the Australian Bush Essence For Animals can help. No more messes to clean up!
Some dogs are just fearful by nature-shivering and whining over thunderstorms, showing over-submissiveness in situations, hiding when company comes over. If this is the case with your dog, then a self-confidence builder like Bachs Century will work wonders.
Birds are very sensitive to the emotional atmosphere in their homes. They can even pick up the stress a woman with PMS is going through and it can make a sensitive bird nippy and cranky. A calming essence like White Shemns Crisis Control works here.
International Flower Essence Center has essences specifically blended for horses that include helping with confidence, communicating, flexibility and hostility.
Some pets that have come to live with us may have been mishandled or even abused. They need something like a mixture of Bachs Larch, Aspen and Star of Bethlehem to help them to trust people again.
Sometimes just growing older can bring on emotional health problems, like loss of hearing or eyesight can make a pet unsure or depressed.
All these emotional problems respond wonderfully to essences. It just takes a little research on our part to find the right essence. If the essence youve chosen doesnt seem to be helping after a week or so, try a different essence.
Sometimes you have to experiment to find the right one, but if you really know your pet, usually the first one you pick will Work. Its a good idea, when giving an essence or essence blend to your pet, for you to take a few drops too. Animals are so psychic and attuned to us, that they pick up all sorts of vibrations from us.
By taking these calming or healing essences, we are showing our pets that we are thinking of them, we are wanting the best for them and we are trying our best to help them. They will understand this. You can either take the drops orally yourself, or, when you are giving some to your pet you can put a few drops in your hand and stroke your pet thereby giving you both a treatment.
